Thoughts in Strife An anthology of the incomprehensible thoughts of Strife

One crazy Saturday after another

Welcome one and all to my all new blog. It's been in the making since forever, but it's finally up and running (to some extent, theme changes to come soon, once I'm done with the custom skin).

This Saturday I decided to have myself an adventurous long day, starting with a long journey to the heart of KL, for Celgames 2010 @ The Hub, Plaza Low Yat. Packing my gear up in a huge sack-like bag, I started by missing the 9.30am train by a couple of minutes. After a 1/2 hour wait, the journey continued, leading me to KL Sentral where thanks to beautiful city planning, I had to walk half a klick to get to the monorail, all the while lugging my G25 on my back. For those of you that don't know, the whole package of the steering wheel, pedals, and gear shifter come up to around 5kg.

Reaching Lowyat after that was easy, and finally I found myself at The Hub, the cafe sharing its space with Viewnet. I met with the rest of the gang here, the usual suspects being Redbull, Bulibuli, Forza, Liang, Chapree, TPK, Moots. A speedier bunch you will likely never meet. Other notable mentions were Jali and a huge bunch of the regular FIFA guys.

Due to way NFS works, we decided to run time trials and tabulate the times overall. This meant that we would each race for just under an hour, with no breaks. Madman managed to make it before we started, so he was able to register too.

After the grueling session, we basically hung around and talked for a bit, before hunger overcame us. Madman and I decided to go out of Lowyat to grab some grub at the nearby hawker shops, and after a relatively expensive meal, we headed to Times Square to have a sneak peak at my future guitar. Sadly, SMX (the guitar shop) was closed by that time, so we capped it off with some drinks from Cold Storage instead. We decided to burn some time before our last excursion of the day by heading back to The Hub to see how things were going.

After some very lucky draws (Madman got himself a PS3 game, and I got myself a pair of Moray+ earbuds :D ), we headed off to get stuck in a jam, and finally land ourselves at KLPac for a session with zombies at Serangan Zombie Pertama di Malaysia.

I have to say, it was a great play, plenty entertainment for all. The only drawback I can think of is that some of the content might have been too complex for certain types of audiences. It was pretty clear that a lot of people did not really get the Emptiness chapter, where Salmon's frenzied dance routine seemed to be interpreted as simply another dance, rather than the desperate actions of a person trying and failing to find meaning in even the most mundane of activities. I'm not sure if it's just me, but one would assume that the clapping should've been kept for the end of the show, rather than mid-chapter.

We wound down with a planned supper at Syed Section 9, one of the premier spots for fried chicken ala Mamak. To our pleasant surprise, we encountered Jeffrey "On the way" Loi, two of his brothers, and Vick. Suffice to say, we hung around for longer than expected as we yakked on.

All in all, it was a gruelling 14 hour day, that I hope will not be repeating itself anytime soon. Although, I will definitely be doing something of the same nature this weekend though. My body is so not going to be forgiving me for this.

PS: Pics to come in revision 2.
