Thoughts in Strife An anthology of the incomprehensible thoughts of Strife

A night out in the town

Well, yesterday was pretty normal. Work was work, food wise for lunch we hit this Japanese cuisine restaurant, pretty good food for a reasonable price, with food for 3 people plus some condiments like cucumber, japanese dumplings and shrimp somethings going for 136 RMB. Sadly I forgot to take pics (whats new :P ). That was that, pretty much. Our evening plans were interesting, a colleague had some plans to meet his buddies at a local bar called the Big Bamboo for a pool league they have every Thursday.

Loud music and drinks abound, we hit the place to see what was what. But not before grabbing a quick bite to eat at a McD, where the 3 of us decided to have a Spicy Chicken McDeluxe-alike burger. Can't say much, McD is McD pretty much wherever you go. A quick ride on the Metro and we were at our destination after a 5 minute walk through the cold icy wind around LuJiaZui [Ed- mistake here, we stopped off at Jing'an Temple, LuJiaZui was far off] . I have GOT to learn Mandarin at some point in my life.

The Big Bamboo bar, pretty interesting place.

My jolly shandy :)

We had some drinks (just Shandy for me ;) ), watched some pool, talked to some cool tourist dude who took a year off to travel, and finally after a long night, we took a cab back. Quite a fun night, but we had to end early cause tomorrow's still Friday. Damn it. I finished off the day with some instant noodles.

Noodles, with the cover.

Noodles and soup, with them chopsticks.

Today was more of the same, pretty tiring cause I keep waking up early cause its cold, and just continuing with the training at work. Lunch was another interesting affair, at a Korean BBQ place. It's quite funny that I had to come to China to try Korean BBQ, considering we have these places back home. The prices however, are hard to argue with. A simple meal of rice for 3, with bacon strips, some beef, a salad, some interesting korean omelet and a Murni sized coke for my colleague only brought the bill up to 144 RMB.

We finished up the day with another visit to the japanese restaurant for dinner, where I tried japanese curry, which isn't really curry in a traditional sense. I'm thinking of getting my dad some cigarettes from here, there's this really interesting one that my colleagues smoke, which are half the diameter of standard cigarettes. Apparently the smokers I know think it's good, so I might bring a pack or 2 back. I know my mom will probably kill me :P

Decided to pick up a soft drink and some snacks from the supermarket, seems coke is freaking cheap here, with 2.5 liter bottles going for 6.5 RMB, which comes up to around RM3.10 back home. I'll finish off this post with the first batch of "Engrish" that I noticed.
